President, Dolly Green Research Foundation
Dr. Joe Dowd currently works in private practice with Equine Medical and Surgical Group in Southern California. He received a degree in biology followed by a Master’s degree in cell and molecular biology from UCLA. In 1990, he received a Ph.D. from Cornell University (physiology) and a D.V.M. degree from U.C. Davis. Since 1990, Dr. Dowd has been engaged in private equine practice serving thoroughbred racing clientele.
Dr. Dowd currently serves as the President of the Southern California Equine Foundation and the President of the Dolly Green Research Foundation. He has served on the research committees for Grayson Foundation, Dolly Green Research Foundation, AAEP and the U.C. Davis Center for Equine Health.
His interests are primarily lameness diagnostics and therapeutics. His current goals include the acquisition of cutting-edge imaging modalities to improve the health and welfare of the Southern California racehorse.
